It has enhanced support for UK-regulated professionals such as HCPC, NMC, Social Work England, SSSC and Social Care Wales registrants, and works well for anyone who wants a clearer system for managing CPD.

Is HandyCPD tailored to my profession?

HandyCPD is designed to avoid a one-size-fits-all approach where possible. When your profession or regulator is supported, the app can tailor parts of the experience, such as relevant standards, regulator-specific wording and available reflection models. Some professions may see additional reflection options or guidance that better fits their CPD expectations.

How does the Reflection Engine work?

The Reflection Engine guides you through structured reflective writing using recognised reflection models such as Rolfe and Gibbs. It breaks reflection into manageable stages, with prompts and AI support to help you organise your thinking.

What AI model does HandyCPD use?

Accepted Answer

HandyCPD uses Google Gemini to support selected AI features, such as helping structure CPD notes, extracting useful information from learning materials and supporting reflective writing prompts. AI is used to assist your thinking, not to replace your judgement.

Is my CPD information sent to AI?

When you choose to use AI features, HandyCPD may send the information needed for that task to the AI provider so it can generate a response. For example, this may include notes you enter, selected CPD details, extracted source text, or an image you ask an available AI feature to process. Workspace image and scanned-page reading is currently unavailable. You should not upload patient/client-identifiable information, confidential records, or sensitive personal data.

No. HandyCPD is designed to support your thinking, structure and organisation. You remain responsible for reviewing, editing and approving your CPD records, reflections, standards mapping and exports.

Does HandyCPD guarantee my regulator will accept my CPD?

Accepted Answer

No. HandyCPD helps you create clearer, better-organised CPD records, but it cannot guarantee that a regulator, employer, auditor or professional body will accept a particular record or reflection. You are responsible for making sure your CPD is accurate, relevant and appropriate for your own professional requirements.

Is HandyCPD secure?

HandyCPD uses account-based access controls and protected storage for your records and evidence. Uploaded evidence files also have separate backup protection, with monitored copying and tested selective retrieval. No service can remove every risk; keep copies of essential records and avoid unnecessary confidential information.

What security features does HandyCPD use to help keep my data safe?

HandyCPD uses Supabase authentication, user-scoped application access controls and encrypted connections. Evidence files are stored privately, with separate backup protection for uploaded files. These protections do not amount to a guarantee of zero loss or a complete account restore. See the Data Protection page for the scope and retention explanation.

Can HandyCPD staff see or monitor my CPD records?

HandyCPD is not designed for app owners or staff to routinely monitor or read your CPD records. Operational monitoring focuses on technical events, errors, usage patterns and support activity rather than the content of your records. Limited authorised access may be required in exceptional cases, such as troubleshooting, security, legal, privacy or support requests, but the product is designed to avoid unnecessary access to user content.

Should I upload patient or client information?

No. HandyCPD is for professional CPD reflection and evidence, not clinical or case records. You should not upload patient/client-identifiable information, confidential records, special-category data, or anything you would not be comfortable including in a professional CPD portfolio. Use anonymised or fictional examples where needed.

Can I upload CPD evidence?

Accepted Answer

Yes. HandyCPD lets you upload and organise CPD evidence such as certificates, screenshots, notes, feedback and supporting files. You remain responsible for making sure uploaded evidence is appropriate and does not include confidential or identifiable information.

Can I save learning without creating a CPD record?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Learning workspaces let you keep editable notes, links and Library files together. Start with a single idea and return whenever you like. Saving or editing a workspace does not use a seed or filing allowance; file storage limits still apply. When ready, select material and choose Plant a Seed to create a draft for review. Later workspace edits do not change its selected inputs or your filed records. Saving a link does not mean its content has been read by AI.

Which sources can HandyCPD read?

Available workspace readers can process public HTTPS article text and supported document text. Workspace image and scanned-page reading is currently unavailable, and new YouTube reading is disabled. Keep those files and links as evidence and add your own notes. Previous results remain available for review. Saved, Reading, Ready and Partly read mean different things: check scope, omissions and uncertainties. Private, paywalled, blocked or unreadable material may remain a reference. Reading is subject to processing limits and is not clinical validation, proof of attendance or a measure of CPD hours.

Can I share material from another app?

You can paste links or notes and upload files directly in a workspace. Open Save to HandyCPD in Home’s Status & utilities or Support for desktop, Android and iPhone setup. On Android, install the web app from Chrome, open it once and use Share → HandyCPD from a webpage. The unpacked Chrome/Edge extension has passed testing, but a public store listing is not yet available. An installable iPhone sharing Shortcut is also not yet available; you can add HandyCPD to your iPhone Home Screen and save manually. Pending capture previews stay in that browser for up to 24 hours; confirm the receiving account and workspace before saving. Saving does not create or file CPD.

What standards does HandyCPD support?

HandyCPD supports mapping CPD to professional standards for a range of regulators and professional groups. Where available, the app can suggest relevant standards based on your selected profession or regulator. You should always review and confirm whether a suggested standard is appropriate for your activity.

What is included in the Free plan?

Accepted Answer

Free includes 5 meaningful seeds and 5 first filings per UTC month, as separate allowances, plus 1 GB Library storage and basic analytics. Saving and editing learning workspaces does not spend a seed or filing allowance; file storage limits still apply. Deleting a record does not restore an allowance already used. AI features have separate fair-use and processing limits.

What does Pro add?

Pro includes unlimited filed CPD records and reflections, 20 GB Library storage, full analytics and no ads. It also includes the Learning Deck: AI-assisted recap cards that help you revisit key ideas from filed activities and reflections. You can try these features during the 30-day Pro trial.

What happens after my Pro trial ends?

Accepted Answer

Your 30-day Pro trial gives you full Pro features with no card required. When your trial ends, you can continue on the Free plan or upgrade to annual Pro if you want unlimited filed CPD records and reflections plus 20 GB Library storage. Pro is billed annually.

Question 21

Can I export my CPD records?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Export an individual activity or reflection as a PDF when the record offers that action. Check the document before using or sharing it. Duplicate and edit creates a new editable record while preserving the filed original and its existing PDF; it does not silently replace that original.
